PTC planning flag design contest

Peachtree City will plan a city-wide contest to come up with a new design for a city flag.

At its meeting last week, the City Council decided to forward the idea to the Recreation Commission so the contest can be planned.

Councilman Dan Tennant brought up the idea, saying that a city flag could help unite the community, especially since many residents come from different parts of the country and world. He said the city currently has a flag that is not flown anymore, and the design is outdated.

"Maybe we could recognize the winner at a council meeting and maybe a small cash award," Tennant said.

Mayor Bob Lenox said it would be ideal if local students could use the project to learn more about Peachtree City.
