Sunday Briefs Formation of a citizens committee to help implement its upcoming building program will top the list of discussion items as the Fayette County Board of Education meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. Also on the agenda is a report from the superintendent on the development and implementation of end-of-course tests, a revised policy on foreign students and philosophy of construction management. The board will take action on the results of a survey measuring employee interest in Medicare coverage. Original Mattress Factory on Ga. highways 85 and 314 has withdrawn its request for a sign variance, according to reports at Wednesday night's Fayetteville City Council meeting. The store was faced with the prospect of reducing the size of its Hwy. 85 sign to be able to have a sign on the Hwy. 314 side according to the city's recently amended sign ordinance, and store management decided not to do that. The lighting of Southwest
Christian Hospice's "Tree of Light" will be a part of Fayetteville's
holiday celebrations again this year. The public is invited to gather
at Heritage Park Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 6-8 p.m. for the lighting
of the tree, donated by Gary and Jeannie Simpson of Christmas Forest.
A variety of holiday music and a visit from Santa Claus are among the
highlights of the event. Join Santa for a free ride around Heritage Park
or have your picture made with Santa. Hot cider and funnel cakes will
be available at the Gazebo during tree lighting ceremony.
