Fayetteville Christian busy with projects

The Fayetteville Christian Church has just about completed its list of at least a dozen capital projects.

Among the major projects concluded are new carpeting, new roofing, a new gym floor, a redesigned sanctuary stage and adding a canopy out front, to name just a few.

Not ones to rest on their laurels, congregation members also have been busy continuing their ministries. About 20 adults traveled to Mexico this summer and built a house for a needy family there.

Many of the church's youths attended a teen conference this summer and returned to inspire others in "The Word."

Children's Vacation Bible School involved a drama that might have taken place 2,000 years ago. Specific wording was taken from the Bible and appropriate costumes were worn to reenact a market scene in Jesus' time.

The children then presented a drama that recreated the feel of Jerusalem about the year 25 A.D.

The congregation has grown from its original count of 14 to average Sunday morning attendance in the 300 range. It will have its 30th anniversary next January.

Minister Daniel Oberdorf has served here since September 1998. He continues being an example of the church's mission statement: "Loving People Into Christ-Likeness."

Dec. 3, the children's choir will present a Christmas program and the adults will take their turn Dec. 9 and 10.

Worship services are Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.

A meal is served Wednesday nights at 6. There is a small fee and reservations are required. Various Bible studies begin at 7 p.m.

The church is at the corner of New Hope Road and Hickory Road and can be reached at 770-461-8763.
