Community to celebrate Victory over Violence

By JOHN THOMPSON

South Fulton residents will descend en masse this Saturday in Aviation Park to celebrate Victory over Violence.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and takes place in Aviation Park at the 200 Building at Wendell Court.

The celebration is a joint project of the Fulton Industrial Business Association, the national campaign for Victory over Violence, Charitable Connections and McLonie Networks.

Victory over Violence emphasizes making positive life-style decisions, finding and teaming with people who have similar values, setting an example and gaining victory over violence in the community.

As part of the group's celebration, volunteers are gathering Saturday to paint walls, put in ceiling tiles and spruce up the Community Wellness and Conference Center.

The group is based in Atlanta and focuses on responding to the violence, destruction and hopelessness that engulfs many youths and adults in the area.

The campaign uses culturally safe devices to help deliver mainstream messages of inclusion to help youths to advocate mainstream morals and fight the tide of violence in the communities.

For more information on the celebration or the organization, phone 404-505-7918.
