Holiday helping begins The Newnan Junior Service League is once again teaming up with the Newnan Food Pantry to bring holiday cheer to the county's families in need. A tradition in Coweta County, this year's Can-a-Thon is set for Nov.28 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The goal for this year is 125,000 cans, which is 5,000 more than last year, said Stephanie Smith, chair for the Can-A-Thon and Christmas in Newnan. "Last year, with the community's support, we were able to help 200 families in need, including the elderly and we are planning on assisting the same number again this year. We are lucky to have the support of the community and many businesses in Coweta County, which makes our efforts a continued success year after year," she said. Donations are being accepted at the Court Square in Newnan.
