Peachtree City extends
deadline in search for WASA member
Peachtree City has extended the deadline for the submittal of Water and Sewerage Authority applications to Friday, Nov. 17. No applications for the single vacant seat had been received as of the original deadline, Nov. 3. The Water and Sewerage Authority is responsible for overseeing the management of Peachtree City's sewer system, which is run on a day-to-day basis by a professional manager who reports to the authority. Mayor Robert Lenox said, "These volunteers provide a tremendous contribution to the community by overseeing the system and making decisions regarding the system in a public venue. "Citizens with a knowledge of business and financial operations would certainly be qualified," he added. "Comprehensive experience in sewer system operation is certainly not a requirement for appointment." The five-year Water and Sewerage Authority term begins Jan. 1. The authority conducts its regular meetings on first Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Applications are available at City Hall, 151 Willowbend Road. Deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 17. For information phone Gloria Reid at 770-487-7657.
