State Senator Greg Hecht presented a $20,000 check to the Fayetteville City Council at Wednesday night's workshop meeting. The funds came from the state's Department of Community Affairs and are earmarked toward the continuing efforts to restore the Hollingsworth House.

The council's regular meeting is Monday at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Agenda items include a sign variance request for Original Mattress Factory at 700 N. Glynn Street, a request for a beer and wine license for Ruby Tuesday restaurant at 1405 Ga. Highway 85 North (scheduled to open in early December), and a resolution authorizing the city's participation in the county's greenspace program.

Local theater continues through this weekend at Baci's Italian Cuisine in Fayetteville, as Paul Massey's "Stories The Ladies Told" wraps Sunday with a 9 p.m. performance. Dessert and drinks will be served and admission is $10.

Old Town Sharpsburg is hosting its 16th annual Chirstmas Open House this weekend. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

The Southwest Christian Hospice Celebrity Golf Classic tees off Monday at Planterra Ridge Golf Club in Peachtree City. A sports memorabilia auction will also be held Monday afternoon at Peachtree City Christian Church. Phone 770-969-8354 for information.

And as if you needed one more reminder, Tuesday is Election Day. Get out and vote early; turnout should be high.
