Ministers to produce 'holy smoke'
"Ten Years of Bridging Communities Through Faith" is the theme for this year's "Holy Smoke," a culinary festival featuring dishes prepared and served by Atlanta's leading clergy. About 1,000 people representing a cross section of Atlanta's multi-ethnic business and religious communities are expected to attend the celebration Nov. 9 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Fulton County Atrium. Holy Smoke features clergy members bringing dishes, putting on a chef's hat and apron and serving tastes of their dishes to those attending. Celestial chili, Rabbi's ravioli and fudge made in heaven are among the many dishes that may be served this year. Holy Smoke raises operating funds for Capitol Area Mosaic, a unique center near the state Capitol that offers educational, social and cultural programs for residents whose per capita income ranks among the lowest in Georgia. CAM was established in 1958 when area churches came together to serve families and combat the forces of poverty. Tickets are $35 and are available at the door.
