Fayette County is ready to submit its plan for impact fees to help pay for a new jail and fire stations to state agencies for their approval.

County commissioners Thursday approved the latest revised fee structure and agreed to send the paperwork to the state Department of Community Affairs and Atlanta Regional Commission in hopes of beginning fee collections early next year.

Impact fees are charged to developers for each new home or business to help pay the costs of new government services and facilities made necessary by growth.

, The Fayette Town Center Kroger will have a costume contest Monday for three age groups. Kids 0-3 years old will participate at 6:30, followed by kids 4-7 at 7 p.m. and ages 8-11 at 7:30 p.m. There will be treats for the children, prizes for the best costumes and employees decked out in costumes as well.

Also Monday, the MOMS Club of Fayetteville invites stay at home and part-time working moms to its open house/Halloween activities at McCurry Park on McDonough Road, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants are asked to bring pumpkins for their children to carve or paint.

Tyrone will have its Pumpkin Walk 9:15 a.m.-11 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall. Children from area elementary schools and church preschools bring their carved or painted pumpkins to be judged. Trick or treat at local businesses throughout Tyrone will be from 3-5 p.m. and is open to children up to 11 years old.
