Fayetteville's Sandra
Ward honored by Supreme Court for work on substance abuse
Chief Justice Robert Benham recently presented Fayetteville resident Sandra L. Ward with the Chief Justices's Award for Excellence in Public Service. The award was presented at "Bringing Us Together: A Statewide Substance Abuse Conference." The Supreme Court Committee on Substance Abuse and Courts and the Georgia Association for the Prevention of Substance Abuse cosponsored the conference that had over 600 attendees. Ward is the director of the Supreme Court's Committee on Substance Abuse and Courts. She also is director of the Supreme Court's Office of Commissions and Programs. "Sandy Ward is a pioneer and has made many valuable contributions in the drug court movement across the state," said Benham in presenting the honor. "It is through her efforts and her skills for organizing, inspiring and marshaling support, that we have been able to provide better services and resources to people in Georgia who are affected by substance abuse." She has worked for the Supreme Court for more than five years.
