Think there is no difference in the candidates?

By DR. KNOX HERNDON
Pastor

It never ceases to amaze me at the responses I hear from people who say that the presidential candidates are so close in their platforms that we don't have a clear choice.

I wonder which planet they have lived on for the last eight years. I don't believe it has been the United States. Or possibly a serious case of amnesia has suddenly beset them.

I provided the prayer at Fort Gillem last year for the National Prayer Breakfast and heard General Fisher speak. He and I were in the Berlin Brigade together from 1977 - 1980.

During his talk at the prayer breakfast he was praising our gallant men and women who are serving in our Armed Forces and was also giving us a breakdown of the size of our current military strength. Hold on to your accolades for our fighting strength, because we heard that we are now number eight in the size of armies of the world. Now I realize that technology is very important but size is also.

Did you know that at today's troop strength levels, we could not field another Desert Storm? Did you also know that in many areas of the Armed Forces that we are relying totally on National Guard and Reserve forces?

This all happened under the Clinton /Gore administration. If this trend were to continue under four more years of a Gore administration, life in the United States as you and I know it today would be no more. In my opinion, there would be a rise in the number of rogue nations that would try to take us on, and there would be a continuation of the lack of any deceit values coming from the White House.

For Al Gore to stand before TV cameras and say that President Clinton was the greatest president of our time spoke volumes about his own values. If however he would have resigned and showed some character, even I would have thought of voting for him.

I strongly feel if Gore is elected, you will see a rise in the homosexual agenda throughout America and we know that the abortionists will continue to gain strength and continue their murder campaign of the unborn.

For those of us who own a firearm and use it for hunting, sporting purposes and the protection of our homes, we will probably see that Constitutional right go down the liberal tubes.

I have served my country for thirty years and have never seen an election that was more important than this one.

If you care at all about this country and your future in living here, get out and vote your convictions in November. It has been said over and over that this election will probably be won by one of the closest margins in history.
