City looking for advisors

Three advisory boards in Peachtree City government are seeking new members for upcoming terms.

The Airport Authority, Water and Sewerage Authority, and Recreation Commission each have a single expiring seat opening at the end of the year.

The open seat on the Recreation Commission, which will meet the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, is for a three-year term. The other two positions are for five-year terms. All three begin Jan. 1.

The Airport Authority meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Falcon Field. The Water and Sewerage Authority meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Applications for all three positions are available at City Hall, located at 151 Willowbend Road. Each applicant will be interviewed by a three-person committee consisting of two city council members and City Manager Jim Basinger. Typically, the chairman of that particular advisory board also sits in on the interviews, said city information specialist Betsy Tyler.

The committee will recommend one applicant to the full council, which has the final say on selecting from the pool of candidates.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m. Contact Gloria Reid at 770-487-7657 for more information.
