Belisle attacks Gordon again

Senoia Councilwoman Judy Belisle is not taking kindly to the charges that council candidate Ken Gordon has leveled at her in the last two weeks.

The fractious situation started when Belisle wrote a letter to local papers. The councilwoman said she could not sit still any longer and felt it was her duty to tell the citizens about Gordon's previous record as a councilman.

Belisle said that Gordon had abandoned her in Chicago on a city business trip. Last week, she said he not only abandoned her without a ride back to the hotel, but also the other city officials on the trip.

"There was never a promise for Kenny to pick all four council members up from our train trip to Chicago," said Belisle. "It was clearly understood by all that Kenny would be available. There were four of us left in the lurch and he was using a car that was paid for by the city. That's taxpayers' money," she said.

Belisle also questioned who the Citizens for Good Government are. Gordon has said he represented them and has appeared at council meetings on their behalf.

"He never said it was citizens of Senoia," she said.

The councilwoman also disputed Gordon's assertion that she had one of her friends appointed to a city position and then had the salary raised.

"You don't appoint and pay, you hire and pay. I do not have a friend who I socialize with outside city business hired as an employee," she said.

She added the only person involved in the government is on the non-paid Christmas Committee.

Belisle said she just felt she had to tell her side to the citizens and anything she has said or written can be backed up by evidence.

"It is through my experiences that Kenny's record and reputation as a candidate is tarnished and full of holes," she said. "Compare these experiences and character against those other candidates running for Senoia City Council."
