The Georgia Department of Revenue will conduct a public auction of unclaimed safe deposit boxes at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta Oct. 18.

"We will be auctioning off approximately 500 lots containing a wide variety of jewelry and coins," said revenue Commissioner T. Jerry Jackson. "All items will be on display and available for viewing at the Civic Center Tuesday, Oct. 17 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and again Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 8 to 10 a.m.," said Cheri A. McGiboney, manager of the department's unclaimed property section.

The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 18. Acceptable methods of payment are cash, cashier's check, certified funds or letter of credit. Manheim Auction Government Services Inc. of Atlanta will conduct the auction. For information phone Manheim at 1-800-222-9885. The Cobb County Civic Center is at 548 South Marietta Parkway.
