Sunday Briefs

• The Fayetteville City Council is scheduled Monday to hear an appeal of a recent Planning and Zoning Commission decision to deny the revised development plan for a Walgreen's drug store at Ga. Highway 85 North and Ga. Highway 314. The primary sticking point with the commissioners was the developers' desire to change the proposed underground detention facility to an above-ground detention pond. After some discussion at Wednesday night's workshop, the developers plan to return to address council Monday night in an attempt to reach an agreement. The City Council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

• The Fayette County Wrestling Club will meet Mondays and Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the old Fayette County High School gym starting tomorrow. The club is open to students in grades 1-8 and is coached by Frank Bennett and Ron Nelson. No experience is necessary and the club is always looking for new members. Call Coach Bailey at 770-460-3540, Coach Bennett at 770-461-8083 or Coach Nelson at 770-716-0347.

• The Clayton College & State University Chamber Choir will perform Hugo Distler's "Dance of Death" today at 3:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta. "Dance of Death" is a 20th century composition based on a medieval morality play featuring people from all walks of life who must confront their final hour. The award-winning CCSU choir is directed by Dr. Shaun Amos. Admission is free.
