Housing Authority focuses on maintenance

By JOHN THOMPSON

It should be relatively quiet this year at the housing authorities of Palmetto, Fairburn and Union City.

That's the assessment of executive director Andre Netterville after two public hearings that nobody attended last Friday.

The first public hearing was for a discussion on this year's agency plans.

"The biggest thing is that we're asking for another maintenance vehicle," said Netterville.

With no expansion or demolition scheduled for this year, Netterville said the agency will focus on small maintenance problems scattered among the 60 units in the three cities.

The agency also will focus on upgrading the computers in the office, he added.

The second public hearing involved the city of Fairburn donating a quarter-acre site on Dodd Street to the Habitat for Humanity of South Fulton County.

With no opposition, the authority plans to donate the land to the group. Habitat for Humanity is currently building four homes in Fairburn.
