Autos targeted in
school lots
By JOHN MUNFORD Fayetteville Police are investigating a rash of auto break-ins that occurred Friday morning at two local schools. Five vehicles were broken into at Fayette Middle School and another one was targeted at Hood Avenue Elementary, said Lt. Tom Kirkbride. The in-dash car stereos were taken from each vehicle after the driver's side or passenger's side windows were broken in, Kirkbride said. There were no witnesses to the incidents, although the department's criminal investigations division is actively working the case, Kirkbride added. Though no break-ins were reported at schools in the county, Maj. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said its school resource officers are getting golf carts so they can patrol the parking lots better.
