HarvestFest to rock Fairburn Fairburn
will be rocking this weekend as the third annual HarvestFest Music Festival
kicks off.
A
celebration of rhythm and Americana, the festival is a three-day family-oriented
music festival featuring some of the finest in American bluegrass,
blues, cajun, zydeco and roots music.
Expanded elements include a second "Dance Stage" a local
artists showcase, and a children's area run and supervised by Tania
Howey and her Magic Moon Traveling Circus. The
festival runs Friday, Oct. 6, 5p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Oct. 7,
11a.m. to Midnight and Sunday, Oct. 8, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The
festival is at Atlanta's Back Porch. Thirty minutes southwest of downtown
Atlanta, the venue sits on 100 acres of Christmas tree farm land in
Fairburn.
The
setting includes a natural amphitheater surrounding a custom-built,
2,400-sq. ft. stage, a creek and lake, as well as field space accommodating
car camping and parking for those who choose to leave at the end of
the night. Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity
to camp out at the venue as a safe alternative to driving and to encourage
musical interaction among the patrons and artists following the show. A
portion of the proceeds benefit the Magic Garden Program, an organization
dedicated to incorporating environmental education in area schools. Directions:
From downtown Atlanta on I-85 southbound, exit at Lakewood Freeway
heading west. Lakewood Freeway becomes Ga. Highway 154. At Fulton
Industrial Boulevard, turn left (south) to follow 154. Approximately
five miles from this intersection, 154 intersects Ga. Highway 92.
Continue straight until the next yellow flashing light and turn right.
There is an Amoco station on the left. Turn right onto Cedar Grove
Road. Follow Cedar Grove approximately seven tenths of a mile and
turn left on West Teel Road, following the gravel road to the venue. Artists
