Tyrone school honors Hecht

Tyrone Elementary School's PTO recently honored state Sen. Greg Hecht during its regular meeting.

Principal Eddie Pollard presented Hecht with an award from the school for his "outstanding assistance" in gaining funds for new playground equipment for the school.

The school's playground equipment was aging, officials said. "I was glad to be a part of the team effort to bring a state grant back to Fayette County," said Hecht. "The school children of Fayette County deserve the best resources we can gain. I am looking forward to seeing the children play on the new equipment."

Hecht added he will bring his daughter to give the new equipment a try. "I appreciate the kindness shown to me by the school system," he said.

Hecht represents portions of Fayette, Clayton, Douglas, and south Fulton counties.
