Band fest is Tuesday

Marching band fans are set to converge on East Coweta High School next week.

The East Coweta Marching Indians are hosting an exhibition of bands Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Garland Shumake Stadium.

The exhibition provides the opportunity to let fans see all the halftime shows and lets the band students encourage other bands.

Bands performing Tuesday include East Coweta, Northgate High School, Newnan High School, McIntosh High School, Fayette County High School, Sandy Creek High School and Starrs Mill High School.

Although this is not a competition, judges are provided to offer suggestions on how the shows can be improved prior to competitions in October.

Tickets for non-band members are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The East Coweta band is thanking the community for their recent support at the dress rehearsal. Band officials said a special thanks goes out to Paul McKnight and his friends for supplying barbecue and Brunswick stew.
