Genealogy class
offered by library
The Peachtree City Library
will host a genealogy class Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the library's
educational learning lab on the first floor.
Topics will include resources on the World Wide Web, how to locate birth
and death records, and how to locate records from abroad. The class will
be taught by Nancy Montgomery, assistant director of the Newnan Family
History Center.
Genealogical research is made easier by computers, said Jill Kuhns, the
library's technology and training manager.
"There are so many genealogical resources out on the web now,"
Kuhns said. "The Educational Learning Lab is equipped with 10 personal
computers with Internet access so participants will get hands-on experience
with them."
The library staff hopes the class generates enough interest to offer a
genealogy program on a monthly basis, Kuhns said.
The library already hosts a monthly investment group, which will meet
again Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. Both programs are free and open to the
public.
