It's only September, but the fur is already flying in this year's election campaign.

Last week, Senoia Mayor Joan Trammell endorsed Marvin McKoy in his race against current Coweta County Commission Chairman Vernon "Mutt" Hunter.

During Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Lawrence Nelms blasted Trammell for saying the county has not been cooperative with the city of Senoia.

Nelms proceeded to list several i
tems the county has provided and helped Senoia with during his tenure in office, including:
· Helping with paving on the city's roads.
· Assisting with the relocation and straightening of Rockhouse Road.
· Paving the city's tennis courts and doing work in the city's park.
· Building a new senior citizens' center in the city.
· Housing the city's inmates in the county prison.
· Providing recreation programs for the city's citizens.
· Assisting with labor for renovations of the city's Freeman
Sasser community building.

At the end of his list, Nelms emphasized the county helps all the municipalities in the county and resents the county commission being targeted in the election.

"I'm not even running. I won't be running for another two years," he said.

He also emphasized that his speech should not be taken as any endorsement of any political candidate.
