Agency sponsoring adoption conference

"If there is any way possible, I'd like to be adopted. But I'm 16 years old," said Donnie, who is waiting for an adoptive family.
Donnie is also focused on his future and helping other children. "I want to be a social worker," the teen said.
Donnie and the hundreds of children waiting to part of an adoptive family are the reason the Georgia Department of Human Resources Office of Adoptions sponsors events to match available children and families interested in adoption.
The agency uses technology and old fashioned matchmaking to find families for children. The next Georgia DHR adoption party and videoconference will be Saturday, Sept. 9 in Macon from 10 a.m. to noon.
Families who attend the Macon site will be able to meet and interact with approximately 25 children from the area who are in need of adoptive families. Other families will be able to meet and talk with the children via video-conferenceing at sites around the state such as Georgia State University in Atlanta and State University of West Georgia in Carrollton.
Preregistration is required for the party. For information call the regional adoption coordinator toll free at (888) 460-2467 or Lisa Lumpe at the Recruitment Solution, (877) 242-5774.
