Local Heart Walk

Janet McGregor, owner of JMac
Marketing, has been named chairman of the 2000 Fayette Division Metro
Atlanta American Heart Walk.
McGregor and more than 5,000 people are expected to walk at Turner Field
Sunday, Nov. 12 to help the American Heart Association raise money for
its mission to prevent heart disease and stroke, America's leading causes
of death and disability.
The 2000 Heart Walk is expected to raise more than $600,000 for the American
Heart Association's research and education programs. This will mark the
fifth year the American Heart Walk has been a metro-wide event.
Companies throughout the metro area are promoting employee health and
wellness by organizing company walking teams. Some of the teams in the
Fayette County area are Team Jonathan, Republican Party, Gold's Gym, The
Guide, The Chamber Small Business Council and The Fayette County School
Food Association. In addition to the company teams, there will be hundreds
of heart disease and stroke survivors walking, who will be honored with
special red caps to show that they are fighting back against these deadly
diseases.
