qualifyers for Tyrone vote
It's going to be a quiet election
year in Tyrone this year.
Qualifying ended last Friday for three positions held by Councilman Ronnie
Cannon, Councilman Paul Letourneau and Mayor Sheryl Lee.
When the qualifying ended at 4:30 p.m., only the incumbents had qualified,
said Town Clerk Valerie Fowler.
While the election might be quiet, this Thursday's council meeting could
get a little heated as the subject of the county's impact fee for a new
jail is once again on the agenda.
Last month, the town agreed to continue discussions about the matter over
the objections of Cannon. The impact fee debate has dragged on for a few
months, and both Cannon and the Fayette County Commission want the situation
resolved.
The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Tyrone Town Hall.
