Extension Service seeks county's best compost

Think you have the best compost in town?

Are you willing to submit it to a panel of compost connoisseurs? The Fayette County Extension Service is challenging county residents to enter their homemade compost in a contest to select the best compost mix in Fayette County.

Entries are due by Sept. 22, so there is still plenty of time to get cooking. Plan to spend the rest of the summer heating up the compost pile and developing the richest looking, best smelling, most nutrient-filled mix in the county.

If you have not made compost before, just call Extension Service and the Master Composters will give you the information needed to get started.

The contest is open only to Fayette County residents and they must call the Fayette County Extension Service, 770-460-5730, extension 5412, to enter. Entries will be displayed at the Kiwanis Fair Sept. 25 - 30.

Contest rules and requirements will be mailed to those who enter.
