Whatever happened to the human race?

By DR. KNOX HERNDON
Pastor

There were several things said on TV by the Gore campaign during the Democratic National Convention that I didn’t agree with, but I thank Almighty God for our system of government and the fact that we do have “choices” we can make in the voting booth.

Call me old fashioned, or just too conservative, but when Al Gore proudly stood in front of the whole world and proudly proclaimed that his party was the party that supported a “woman’s right to choose,” it sounded so lofty and so democratic but , omething deep inside my soul cried out!

I thought of the probably millions of babies across America who were murdered through abortion by those seemingly lofty sounding words “we are the party that supports a woman’s right to choose.”

I am a history buff and read a lot about how America and the world evolved politically and socially to where we are today. I am mostly terested in how we interact with our fellow man, an interest which is deeply rooted in my faith and the faith of our forefathers.

This proudly professed statement of a “woman’s right to choose” by the Democratic National Convention sends me back to two sets of books. The first one is my Bible and the second set is a set of history books of the World War II era.
Certainly one of the most hated and heinous men of the 20th Century would, in my opinion, have been Dr. Joseph Mengle, an SS doctor at Auschwitz Concentration Camp. His nickname was “the angel of death” and was rewarded by the Nazi leadership. Our history books and live witnesses tell us that this man was one of the ones who would stand at the rail heads inside the concentration camp and make “selections” of who would live a while longer, and who would be gassed that very day. He held in his power the “right to choose” who would live and who would die. He also performed human “guinea pig” experiments on inmates with his “right to choose.”

We all read these stories with horror and shake our heads and say “how could anyone do this?” There is also inscribed on the entrance of Dachu Concentration camp these words which were put there after the liberation: “Never Again.”

Morally, I don’t see a lot of difference between Dr. Mengle, with his “right to choose” and the women and doctors who are killing these unborn and even late term children with their “right to choose.”

Imagine these women and doctors who perform their “death trade” and then go to lunch and smile and laugh and talk about the events of the day as if it’s “just another day at the office.” At the Nuremberg trials at the close of WWII when all the Nazi’s sat there day after day and watched the films of the piles of dead bodies their government had sanctioned, all stood and proclaimed, “not guilty”. Recently there was a film based on the Nuremberg Nazi trials and the psychologist who was assigned to interview the inmates was searching for an answer to what was the difference between people who could kill innocent people on a daily basis, and the rest of society. His conclusion was that the “evil” that the Nazi’s had imposed on millions of people was defined as people with a “lack of empathy.” Does this sound familiar about America’s feelings about abortion?

It would be interesting if someone had photographed all the aborted babies and would show these photographs and films to the American people, I believe there would be quite an outcry for the abolition of this death trade.

I know that God in heaven is crying for America and this deadly sin that the Democratic National Convention is proudly supporting. This is not about politics it is about those innocent children that never are able to see the light of day because the “right to choose” has been imposed on their behalf. In my opinion, if we say the Nazi’s were bad, then we must draw the conclusion that this death trade is the same, all proudly couched in the wonderful words “we support a woman’s right to choose.”

God forgive us and help us to return to a government that does not celebrate sin on national TV. They then have the audacity to claim that they love and support families. You can’t have it both ways. If you love families, you can’t kill just the unwanted members.

I then turn to the other book, the Bible which states “we reap what we sow.” It also says “without love, I am nothing!” Can you imagine abortionists “doctors” standing before Almighty God and stating “ I was just doing my job.” Doesn’t it have a familiar ring of the Nazi’s at Nuremberg, “I was just following orders?”

You have a chance to turn all this around in November. On behalf of all the children, let us examine our souls and our emotions! If we find a “lack of empathy,” or a “lack of love” for our fellow human beings, may we ask for forgiveness and vote to save the children. Your vote counts!
