The Fayette County Board of Education will meet Monday at 8 a.m. to review proposals submitted from bond companies vying to handle the proposed $63 million bond referendum for new school construction. The referendum, approved Wednesday night by the board, will be on the Nov. 7 general election ballot.
The funds will cover the construction of three elementary schools totaling about $28 million; one new high school, approximately $29.8 million; land acquisition, $3 million; and a number of renovations and modifications at nine existing schools, about $8 million.

The Fayette Youth Protection Home will present “An Evening with Ludlow Porch” Monday night at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center. The festivities will begin with a dinner at 7:15 and will also include special guest Dr. Ferrol Sams, Jr. Admission is $75. Call 770-460-1800 for more information.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Fayetteville City Council will hold its next regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall. The council workshop is currently scheduled for this Wednesday at 7 p.m. as usual.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs travel to East Coweta High School Tuesday afternoon to face the Lady Indians in a region softball game. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30. A few miles south, the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers host the Newnan Lady Cougars, also in a Region 4-AAAAA contest, Tuesday at 4:30.
