A
Fairburn woman was killed Friday evening in a
two-car accident on Ga. Highway 92 North near
Hickory Road.
It
was the third traffic fatality this year in
unincorporated Fayette County.
Carolyn
H. Moore, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene,
said Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell. Her
vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, overturned several
times after the collision, according to a report
from the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators
don't believe that alcohol or drugs played a role
in the crash, which occurred after 6 p.m.
The
other vehicle, driven by Charlotte Ayala Jiricek,
41, of Fayetteville, crossed the center line of
the highway after running off the shoulder of the
road, the report stated. Jiricek's Volvo struck
Moore's Jeep in the left rear, causing both
vehicles to overturn, the report adds.
Jiricek
and her two daughters were taken to Fayette
Community Hospital with minor injuries. Martha
Hicks, 76, a passenger in Moore's car, was flown
to Atlanta Medical Center with minor injuries.
Neither
Moore nor Hicks wore a seatbelt at the time of
the accident, the report states. All three
occupants of Jiricek's vehicle were wearing their
safety equipment, the report added.
As
customary with all fatal auto accidents, samples
were taken for drug and alcohol testing. The
samples will be analyzed at the Georgia state
crime lab.
The
investigation into the accident is ongoing,
police said.
