Not a speech, but a message

What a speech! I am referring to George W. Bush's acceptance speech given last Thursday night at the Republican National Convention. Last week when I wrote that I was looking forward to quoting George W. Bush in the future I was not thinking it would be this soon. George W's speech was more of a message than a speech. It was filled with passion and compassion, faith and inspiration, goals and responsibility.

The act of confessing one's sins to a priest has long been a source of confusion and suspicion for many non-Catholics.

Fall Bible study classes to be offered by Peachtree City UMC

Fall Bible study classes will kick off this weekend at Peachtree City United Methodist Church with an orientation meeting scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Bryan Fellowship Hall. All classes will begin the week of Aug. 21.

Dee Baxter will speak at August Women's Aglow meeting in PTC

Dee Baxter will be the featured speaker at this month's meeting of Women's Aglow Fellowship International, Peachtree City Chapter, Monday evening, Aug. 21, and Tuesday morning, Aug. 22. Both meetings will be held at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 202 Robinson Rd. in Peachtree City, next to Mowell Funeral Home.

August Revival planned at Bible Baptist

Members of Bible Baptist Church will have their 26th Anniversary Revival Services Sunday through Tuesday, Aug. 20-22.

The Changing Church' will be discussed at seminar Aug. 26

Author and professor Dr. Robert Webber will explore the themes of new trends in churches in a one-day workshop entitled “Authentic Worship in a Changing World” on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. The fee is $59 for pre-registrants and $79 for walk-ins. Both Laity and church leaders are encouraged to attend.

Greater Atlanta Hadassah plans Open House meetings in metro Atlanta area

Greater Atlanta Hadassah has scheduled several Open Houses in the Atlanta area as past of its August program. Ladies are invited to learn about the nine area groups and two special interest councils that serve the Atlanta area.

North Fayette UMC opens registration

Registration for fall preschool classes at North Fayette United Methodist Church are underway with application forms available in the church office. Classes will be offered for children who will be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2000. Spaces are limited. For more information, call Deb Cole at 770-460-1554.

Nat'l Heights children's musical is tonight

The children who have been attending Summer Camp at National Heights Baptist Church will present the musical, “Down By the Creek Bank,” by Dottie Rambo on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Area choirs and individuals are encouraged to participate in the second annual Messiah Sing-A-Long on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City.

Providence UMC ladies plan outing to attend 'Just Give Me Jesus' seminar

Ladies at Providence United Methodist Church are planning to attend the “Just Give Me Jesus” seminar presented by Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Billy Graham, Friday evening and Saturday morning Aug. 25 and 26. Accompanying Mrs. Lotz will be nationally known Bible teacher, Kay Arthur, and renowned speaker Jill Briscoe.
