Longhorn's 'big-haired lady' coming to town

If you want to kick back, chow down and have fun Aug. 17 at WhiteWater Country Club you will need to call and reserve your spot quickly. According to Nancy Price, Regions Bank's Heritage Club coordinator, “Space is limited and going fast.”

Longhorn Steakhouse's “big-haired lady,” Flo, will be the featured guest speaker and entertainer at the next Region's Bank Heritage Club luncheon. Also known as Sarah Scharbo, she is famous for her Longhorn Steakhouse commercials. The “big-haired lady” and the Longhorn tune, “Buck Up,” are synonymous.

Scharbo & Company, husband Ron Scharbo's ad agency, put Longhorn on the map with the award-winning radio campaign in 1991. Scharbo is involved in advertising and writes a lot of the copy herself.

She will give a brief presentation regarding her experience in the entertainment industry, as well as a demonstration of her signature dance step. Longhorn Steakhouse will provide door prizes.

The Heritage Club is Regions Bank's senior club account, which boasts both banking and social benefits. Anyone 50 or older may qualify for the club. Currently the local club, which includes both Fayette and Coweta counties, has close to 700 accounts, many of which are joint accounts.

Regarding the bimonthly luncheons, Price noted, “They have become such a popular aspect of our club that we often have to turn people away.”

Other activities club members enjoy include day trips, extended travel, luncheons and seminars. The group will travel to Chastain Park in August to hear Tony Bennett. A four-day trip to New Orleans, an evening at Agatha's Mystery Dinner Theater and a day trip to the Appalachian Rain Forest are just a few of the many upcoming events planned for club members.

For more information regarding the Regions Bank Heritage Club, call Nancy Price at 770-632-4514, or stop by any of the five branches in Fayette or Coweta counties.
