Task force near
August deadline By

The
West Village Annexation Task Force will meet
Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Peachtree City Hall to
look over the newest version of the conceptual
plan for the project.
Time
is running short, however, for the task force to
make its August deadline for providing a
recommendation to the city council on whether or
not to annex the land.
The
conceptual plan was created during a lengthy task
force meeting last month. Since then, it has been
changed to include some of the amenities the task
force wanted, said city planner David Rast.
The
land planning consultants who are redesigning the
plan have used minutes of the task force meetings
for guidance on what changes to make.
Also,
developer representatives Jerry Peterson and Dan
Fields have had input with Wood and Partners, the
consulting firm that drew up the plan, according
to Rast.
As
of Thursday, the modified West Village plan had
not been submitted to the city. But Rast said he
has heard a number of the task force's
considerations have been included in the new
plan.
It
sounds like they have been able to include a
little bit of everything, Rast said.
The
main issue for the developers, of course, is the
cost of infrastructure, particularly if a new
bridge to cross the railroad tracks.
To
fund that and other items such as land for a
school and a fire station, the developers have
said they need to fit over 1,400 homes in the
area.
Rast
said he also thought the plan would address the
task force's environmental concerns.
