School registration is Aug. 2

Registration will be conducted at individual schools for the upcoming school year.

Elementary schools (grades pre-k - 5) will have registration Aug. 2 and 3 from 8:30 - 11 a.m. and from 1 - 3 p.m.

Elementary age requirements:

Pre-K students must be 4 years old by Sept. 1. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by Sept. 1. First grade students must be 6 years old by Sept. 1.

Middle schools (grades 6 through 8) and high schools (grades 9 through 12) will have registration Aug. 2 and 3 from 8:30 - 11 a.m. and from 1 - 3:30 p.m.

Parents should bring the following:

F Georgia immunization certificate (including hepatitis B inoculations).

F Vision/hearing, dental screening certificates.

F Sixth graders need proof of MMR and booster.

F Social Security card.

F Birth certificate.

F Records such as transcripts and last report card from previous school.

F Note: All students attending a Georgia school or day care for the first time this school year must show proof of chicken pox vaccination.

Immunization and health screening can be obtained from private physicians and from the Coweta County Health Department. The county Health Department gives immunizations and screenings Monday through Friday from 8 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3:30 p.m. with no appointment necessary at its Newnan office. For more efficient service, bring copies of all former immunization records with you. The costs are $10 per shot plus $3 for the certificate at the health department. The vision/hearing/dental screening is $18 plus $3 for the certificate. For information phone 770-254-7400.

Visitation for all schools will be Aug. 9 from 1 - 3 p.m. This is a time for parents and students new to the building to visit briefly. Teachers will not be available for conferences at this time. Conferences are to be scheduled at other times.

Central Educational Center parent/student orientation will be Thursday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. The CEC staff will offer a question and answer session to discuss transportation, parking, school-to-school transitions, lunch, the work ethic grade and other policies and regulations regarding CEC.

Parents who wish to register their children for the after school program can do so Aug. 7, 8, or 9 from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 - 3 p.m. at the elementary school which the child attends.

Operating hours for the ASP are 2:30 - 6 p.m. only on days on which school is in session.

There is a one-time registration fee of $7 for each child. Tuition for the ASP is $8 per day. Tuition payments made by Friday prior to the week of attendance are $6 per day reserved. To maintain a space in the ASP, parents must pay for at least one designated day of attendance each week, regardless of whether the child attends or not.

Enrollment is limited at all sites. When all slots are filled, a waiting list will be created.
