Schools advisory
group to talk about financing The Fayette
County Schools' Facilities Advisory Action
Committee will meet Thursday, July 27 between 7
and 9:45 p.m. at the LaFayette Education Center,
building A in the media center.
School
finance director Jim Stephens will discuss school
system finances and where exactly the money comes
from to run a school district.
Fayetteville
resident and tax attorney Claude Paquin will give
a presentation on how bonds and property taxes
can finance new school construction. Paquin said
he will supply handouts to illustrate exactly how
much property tax will be needed for new schools
versus the cost of having a special local option
sales tax, an initiative that was defeated twice
by Fayette County voters.
Fayette
County School Superintendent John DeCotis
announced that the meeting is open to the
community, in addition to members of the advisory
committees.
