July 18, 2000, Fayetteville, Ga. The Fayette Community Hospital (FCH) Auxiliary recently held its third annual spring meeting and luncheon to report accomplishments of the past year, elect new officers and present a financial gift to the Hospital. The Auxiliary completed the 1999-2000 year with a membership of 266, including 28 new members, total volunteer time exceeding 35,585 hours and a net gain of $96,051.06. Over the past year, the group helped to sponsor three community blood drives, two Hospital book fairs, three middle-school vaccination efforts and the delivery of 169 gifts to underprivileged seniors and children in the community, along with numerous other hospital and community-related events. From its fundraising efforts, the Auxiliary was able to present an $80,000 check to Hospital CEO Darrell Cutts. The Auxiliary brings so many added benefits to our Hospital, said Cutts. They are a vital component of our organization and are ambassadors of good will to patients, families and our staff members. Cutts also installed the 2000-2001 Auxiliary board members: Karen Stephens, president; John Woody, vice president; Yvonne Warhola, corresponding secretary; Francis Harman, recording secretary; John Klug, treasurer; JoAnn Embolson, revenue officer; Lena Slaughter, director at large; and Robert Morris, director at large. Auxiliary members can be seen throughout the Hospital providing assistance, delivering flowers and comforting family members in areas such as the Emergency Room, Diagnostics, the Intensive Care Unit, the Fitness Center, Surgical Services, Administration and the Gift Shop. Men and women of all ages can participate in the Hospital Auxiliary in many areas and on many levels. There are two types of volunteersactive and associate. Active volunteers contribute $25.00 per year and pledge to give their time for a minimum of 75 hours a year or 50 hours during evenings and weekends. Associate members are those who have the opportunity to enjoy all Auxiliary-sponsored events, from community fundraisers to the annual holiday luncheon, and have no required number of volunteer hours but make a $75 annual contribution.
