Fayette County's
government needs more information before
commenting on the city of Fayetteville's proposed
annexation of 873 acres at Ga. Highway 54 and
Lester Road.
The
city is required to get the county's opinion on
the matter as part of Georgia House Bill 489,
which requires greater cooperation between
governments.
Developer
Robert Rolader wants to build Deerpointe, a
450-home neighborhood, on the land, and use 2.5
acres for shops and 16 acres for offices, and has
proposed to donate 215.5 acres to the city for
public use.
But
county commissioners this week said they need
more detailed information about how the different
uses will be laid out and the proposed zoning
categories for specific parts of the project
before deciding if the plan is compatible with
the county's long-range plan for the nearby area.
Commissioners
asked interim County Administrator Chris Cofty to
write the city requesting the additional
information, and tabled action on the city's
request for input.
