The Fayetteville City
Council will hold a first reading of its fiscal
year 2001 budget at Monday night's regular meeting,
which was postponed from July 3 due to the holiday. The
agenda for Monday also includes amendments to the city's
sign ordinance, a rezoning request for the Landrum
property on Ga. Highway 54 East, a proposed ordinance
regarding the sale of used motor vehicles, and a traffic
signal interconnection project. The City Council meets at
7 p.m. at City Hall.
A proposed annexation is
on the agenda of the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning
Commission, which meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at City
Hall. Developer Bob Rolader is asking that the city bring
in 610 acres for his Deer Pointe residential development
on Ga. Highway 54 West, Lester Road and Huet Road. In
return, he is offering a wealth of green space, including
215 acres for a city park, to the city for free. The plan
includes a request for rezoning and reclassification as a
planned unit development. Several previously tabled items
are also scheduled for consideration Tuesday night,
including a variance request and development plans for
Carolyn Ford, as well as a development plan for the Ga.
85 retail center at 770 South Glynn Street. A new
development plan for a Hooters restaurant at Banks Road
and Ga. Highway 314 will also be considered. The
commission does not vote on any items at this meeting,
but will consider the same agenda at its voting meeting
July 25.
