Bike paths on the
way to Coweta Coweta
County is in the first stage of developing a
master plan for bicycle routes across the county.
Working
in conjunction with Robert and Company,
information is being sought from the cycling
public concerning the best roads for bike routes.
Late
last month, the first informational meeting was
conducted. At that meeting several key questions
were asked by Robert and Company.
Georgia
Transportation Commissioner Wayne Shackleford
recently announced approval of federal funding
for construction of the Coweta County bicycle
route network and the planning crucial element of
the plan.
This
project involves planning and implementing a
county bicycle route network in Coweta County.
The designated network of bicycle trails will
connect public facilities and historic areas of
interest through routes in scenic areas of the
county.
This
completed project will provide a scenic and
user-friendly, multi-use trail in Coweta
County, said Shackleford.
Transportation investments such as this one
not only benefit the citizens of this county, but
also benefit visitors.
Up
to 80 percent of the funds being used for this
project have been provided by the Federal Highway
Administration, with the Coweta government
funding the remainder of the project cost.
The
county is responsible for implementing the
project and obtaining federal reimbursement from
the Georgia Department of Transportation.
