City Hall in Fayetteville will be open as usual Monday, July 3. Fayetteville is the only municipality in the county whose administrative offices are open that day. All others are celebrating the Fourth of July holiday with a four-day weekend. Carolyn Ford's variance request and development plan were tabled Tuesday night by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission. Planning director Maurice Ungaro told the commissioners that a July 10 meeting is scheduled with city staff and the company would come back before the commission in August at the earliest. Carolyn Ford has proposed an expansive increase in showroom and outdoor display space that the city does not feel is in line with the Main Street District. Peachtree City will offer its annual Fourth of July festivities Tuesday, starting with a 10 a.m. parade that begins at Booth Middle School and ends at City Hall. The Fire Department's water battle has been cancelled due to the drought, but a Peachtree City Wind Ensemble concert remains set for 7 p.m. at City Hall Plaza, and fireworks over Lake Peachtree at 9:30 will go on as scheduled. Shannon Mall in Union City will have special holiday activities today beginning at 4 p.m. a variety of entertainment avenues for kids. After a 6:15 magic show, the fun moves outdoors for a free parking lot concert by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is set for 7:30, followed by a fireworks display.
