Boot drive a success in Peachtree City

The Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department collected $5,500 for the Georgia Fire Fighters Burn Foundation during its three-day “Give Burns The Boot”Æ drive held June 15-17.

Funds collected through the boot drive will be used to help support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation's year-round mission — to educate the public in burn awareness and prevention, to support medical facilities in the care of burns in Georgia, and to assist burn survivors in their recovery.

The department was one of more than 100 fire departments throughout Georgia which participated in the 11th annual “Give Burns The Boot” fund-raiser. Since its inception in 1989, the “Give Burns The Boot” campaign has raised more than $2.5 million for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

“Final tallies as to how much this year's project raised overall were not available at press time,” said David Sewall, Boot Drive Coordinator for the Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department.

Local firefighters who helped in this year's project include: Firefighters Bill Brady, Fred Bryant, Josh Crawford, Jeremy Carlisle, Chris Campbell, Jeff Baker, Joey Sutherland, Martin Poffenberger, Kyle Sherrit, Bill Gray, David Sewall, Doug West, Asst. Chief Sam King, Sgt. Jim Christopher, Lt. Ron Mundy, Sgt. Tom Bowman, Acting Chief Stony Lohr and Explorer Scouts Ryan Brady, Steven Bowman, Andrew Dalton, Andrew Neiderhausen, and Joe Sewall.
