Peachtree City Police are still investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred last month as the Arby's restaurant was closing.

Maj. Mike Dupree said an assistant manager was leaving the store May 15 when someone approached him and asked him to reenter the store. The victim was unable to do so, and the suspect struck him several times in the head with a silver firearm, Dupree added.

No money or other items were stolen by the attacker, who fled the scene, Dupree said. The incident took place between 10:45 and 11 p.m., he added.

The victim went to a nearby pay phone to call 911 and report the crime, Dupree said. He was treated and released at the hospital for lacerations to the head, Dupree added.

Police would not release further details, because the investigation is still pending. Dupree did confirm that the department is following some active leads in the case.
