Flat Creek Baptist continues down its path

Realizing its place in Fayette County history, the Flat Creek Baptist Church stands ever ready to continue the path it has set for the past 174 years.

Though its Statement of Purpose has only been written down since 1998, it has been in existence all those years: “Obeying God by Sharing Christ's Love Through Glorifying the Savior, Edifying the Saints, Testifying to the Sinner and Comforting the Sufferer.”

It carries out this belief through the youth and the adults in their missionary work both in the United States and around the world.

A number of adults will leave the end of June for Gray Court, S.C., assisting the Friendship Baptist Church there by helping with some construction and giving a number of backyard Bible studies.

Some of its youth are with others in various mission board work as well as serving in Haiti and Peru.

Flat Creek Baptist has added a new children's educational wing which will house its preschool, with over 30 students expected this fall, as well as acting as a day care center and children's Bible study and Sunday School rooms.

The Rev. William O. Priester arrived on the scene in 1973 and under his pastorate, the church has grown from 400 members to over 1,200 members.

The church is located at 161 Flat Creek Trail, just off Ga. Highway 54 West and can be reached at 770-487-4890.
