The Fayette County School Board will meet Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the district offices, 210 Stonewall Ave. Agenda items include a discussion on character education, curriculum, introduction of new policies affecting student conduct code, and the results of an employee survey on Social Security. The Board of Education's facilities advisory and action committees will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Lafayette Education Center. The public is invited to come hear the options available to deal with school growth issues. The Fayetteville City Council is having its regular meeting Monday, June 19, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Among the items planned for consideration are the appointment of members to the city's impact fee advisory committee and the proposed closing of City Hall July 3 in addition to the July 4 holiday. Four ordinances have second readings scheduled for that meeting as well, including amendments to the sign ordinance, a rezoning request for the Stone Ridge subdivision (withdrawn at the applicant's request), a rezoning request for the Magnolia Park subdivision at Ga. Highway 54 and Braxton Court, and amendments to the city's guidelines for tractor-trailer truck parking in residential districts. Secretary of State Cathy Cox earlier this week advised Georgians that Monday, June 19, is the last day they can register to be eligible to vote in the 2000 General Primary Election July18.
