A
Stockbridge man has been arrested for the
statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl in December
at her home in north Fayette County, according to
a report from the Fayette County Sheriff's
Department.
Adrian
Lee O'Bright, 20, of 167 Black Forest Drive in
Stockbridge was a family friend who was staying
at the victim's residence when the incident
occurred, said Sgt. Renee James, an investigator
with the Sheriff's Department.
There
were no signs that Bright forced himself on the
young girl, Sgt. James said.
The
law doesn't allow a 14-year-old to consent
to sexual relations, Sgt. James said, adding that
the victim is pregnant.
The
victim was out of town with relatives when she
told her mother about the incident, police said.
When she returned, the Sheriff's Department was
contacted and warrants were issued for Bright's
arrest.
As
with all cases involving alleged child abuse, law
enforcement officers are required to report the
allegations to the Department of Family and
Children Services.
