Local
firefighters will kick off their boots from
Thursday through Saturday, June 22-24, to raise
funds for the Georgia Firefighters Burn
Foundation.
Personnel
from the Fayetteville Fire Department and the
Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency
Services will be seeking donations for the
foundation. They will be stationed at several
locations in Fayetteville and throughout the
county holding boots to collect the funds.
The
money will help the foundation's mission to
educate the public in burn awareness and
prevention, support medical facilities in the
care of burns in Georgia and assist burn
survivors in their recovery.
A
portion of the funds raised will help both fire
departments purchase fire safety and burn
prevention educational tools.
The
cochairmen of the local campaign are Sgt. Ashley
Strickland from the Fayetteville Fire Department
and Lt. Bobby Haydon from the Fayette County
Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Some
of the locations where firefighters will be
accepting donations include: Lowe's, Wal-Mart and
the new Kroger on the south end of the city, Sgt.
Strickland said.
