2 big Tyrone
projects to get sewer service from Fairburn By JOHN

Tyrone
moved one step closer to providing sewerage for
two huge developments last week.
Town
manager Barry Amos confirmed Fulton County has
reached an agreement with Fairburn that would
allow Fairburn to provide Tyrone 250,000 gallons
a day of sewerage capacity.
Tyrone's
northern boundary lies within two miles of the
south Fulton County city's southern limit along
Ga. Highway 74.
With
that amount of capacity, Tyrone could offer
sewerage to the 200-home John Wieland PUD and the
proposed 750,000-square-foot Richard Bowers
office park on Ga. Highway 74.
Amos
said that Fairburn, through Fulton County, could
go ahead and provide the service now, instead of
waiting for a new treatment plant to be built.
Fairburn's
leaders are looking at constructing a wastewater
treatment plant that would be connected to a
potable water treatment plant large enough to
sell some of the capacity to Tyrone.
Amos estimated the
Bowers and Wieland projects would need 250,000
gallons of sewerage capacity a day and said all
the costs of the project would be shouldered by
the developers.
Negotiations
between Fairburn and Tyrone are moving along
quickly and Amos believes an agreement will be
reached soon.
