Writer recognized by Southland Chorus

Janet McGregor was recently honored by the Southland Chorus for her promotion of the group's music through articles in The Citizen and her e-mail newsletter, Snippets.

She received a beautiful award that read, “Janet McGregor is officially recognized as an honorary member of the Fayette Chapter of the BarberShop Harmony Society of America for her assistance in promoting the awareness of BarberShop singing and four part harmony among the citizens in Fayette County, Georgia and neighboring counties, towns, hamlets and other places people reside and read.”

The Southland Chorus is a “men's a cappella chorus singing Barbershop-style four-part harmony,” according to public relations chair Conrad Harris. The Chorus is comprised of approximately 25 voices and is continuing to grow. The Chorus is open to any man who can “carry a musical note in some form or fashion.”

The non-profit group practices weekly on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on the Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City. For more information regarding the group, contact Harris at 770-461-5174.
