Each Wednesday afternoon from early January to late April, the McIntosh German Club and the cIntosh Chapter of Delta Epsilon Phi, the National german Honor Society, came together to mentor a group of approximately 15 fourth and fifth grade students.

With the support of Ms. Donna Worcester of the Fayette County Community School Academic Mentoring Program, the high school volunteers guided the Kedron Elemntary After School Program students, using games and small-group sessions to teach German basics - colors, numbers, animals, school supplies and simple sentences. After completing the week's lesson and activities, the students paired off to talk, often sharing stories about middle school and high school.

Participating students were seniors Blaise Kelsch, Robert Nacke, Bryan Fitzgerald, Jennifer Mitchell, Nicole Dupre, Brian Byrne and Erin Bartels, juniors Kathleen Powers and Erik Houston and sophomore Megan Bartels. The German Club and Honor Society members not graduating this spring plan to continue the program in the fall.
