Fayetteville sign law By DAVE HAMRICK

Proposed
revisions to Fayetteville's sign ordinance will
probably get City Council action Monday following
discussion at tonight's work session.
Council
will discuss the changes at 7 tonight at City
Hall with plans to vote on the new ordinance in
Monday's business meeting, also at 7.
Controversial sections of the revised law that
would have prohibited flying multiple American
flags over businesses have been removed, along
with a section prohibiting internally lighted
signs.
Also
on the agenda tonight and Monday, council will
discuss new names for old sections of streets
that were isolated in the recently completed
realignment of Ga. Highway 92 at Jimmie Mayfield
Boulevard.
City
planners have polled residents of the area to get
ideas.
Council
also will discuss Fayette County's request that
the city collect impact fees for the planned
construction of a new county jail and courthouse.
Concerns
over the city's law, passed last December,
prohibiting the parking of semi truck cabs
residential neighborhoods also are on the agenda.
Those who already were parking their trucks at
home were given 60 days to register so they could
be exempted from the ordinance, but concerns over
how those residents were notified of the deadline
will be discussed.
Council
will conduct first reading of three rezoning
requests, with plans to have second reading and
vote on the requests June 19 (See related story).
