The Greater Fayette Republican Women will host a “meet the candidates” reception June 15 to allow the public to meet candidates for local elections one on one.

The reception will be 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the commission chambers of the Fayette County Administrative Complex.

American Legion Post 105 in Fayette County will sponsor Memorial Day ceremonies tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Camp Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville. Guest speaker will be Maj. Gen. Craig Bambrough, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve Command at Fort McPherson.

A veterans' appreciation picnic will follow the ceremony at McCurry Park.

Memorial Day activities in Peachtree City include a golf cart parade at 7:30 a.m. and a ceremony at City Hall at 7:45 a.m.

Guest speaker will be retired Marine Gen. Raymond G. Davis, 85, veteran of three wars.

The Peachtree City Wind Ensemble Community Band will perform Monday at 8 a.m. at City Hall in Peachtree City.

The group also will perform at 11 a.m. at McCurry Park in Fayetteville.
